Coronavirus Policies 2020

Help prevent the spread of Coronavirus in your community!

We're practicing Social Distancing and you should too!

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Medical Center Eye Clinic is mandating that only our patients and their caregiver/patient advocate can be in the clinic. This decision has been made for the health and safety of our other patients and staff.

How Medical Center Eye Clinic is Protecting You During COVID-19

Our clinic is staffed by providers and technicians who understand and have experience in managing infection and disease. In the healthcare arena, providing exceptional infection control precautions is simply a daily way of life.

We understand you may have concerns about your safety while visiting our clinic. Please be aware that we are taking additional steps to ensure your safety and comfort.

Before Your Appointment:

In order to shorten the amount of time spent in the clinic, you are invited to fill out any required paperwork online through our Patient Portal. Alternatively, one of our staff may contact you to pre-register prior to your arrival.

When You Arrive:

Please call the clinic at (503) 581-5287 from your car when you arrive. Our staff will take you through a remote check-in process, including a COVID-19 screening questionnaire, prior to you entering the building.

When completed, wait in your car for a second phone call. A technician will call you and invite you to enter the clinic. You must wear a face mask to enter the clinic. If you do not have a mask, you may purchase one from the front desk for $5.00 (supplies limited). If you do not have a mask and none are available, your appointment will be rescheduled.

You will be greeted at the door by a technician who will take your temperature prior to entering the clinic. If your temperature is elevated, you will be asked to wait while your chart is reviewed by a doctor. You may be seen that day or referred to an off-site clinic.

You may have no more than one person (i.e. spouse, caretaker) accompany you into the clinic. All those accompanying you must undergo the same health screening and must wear a mask.

During Your Visit:

Your movement throughout the clinic will be somewhat limited. If dilation is necessary, you will remain in your assigned examination room rather than a communal dilation area. Patients will be escorted through the clinic, maintaining proper social distance from other patients.

Visits to our Optical Department are permitted. You will be seated at a desk and our opticians will help you.

While there is risk with any communal exposure, we are taking every precaution to ensure you are safe during your visit.

We are taking extra precautions to pre-screen patients prior to their arrival at our clinic and rescheduling any patients who may be a greater risk. We are maintaining social distance between our patients and ourselves. We have increased our already stringent sanitation protocols. We are holding ourselves to the same high standards of exposure control we have implemented for our patients.

We follow the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as the World Health Organization (WHO).

All medical, reception, and administrative staff are wearing masks during any interaction. Our technicians and providers are using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including masks, gloves, and gowns when necessary to keep them and our patients safe.

We are maintaining safe social distance protocols whenever possible. This includes limiting the number of people in the clinic at any given time and allowing only one person to accompany our patients into the building.

We follow all state and federal recommendations to keep our centers clean and safe. All surfaces in our waiting areas, examination rooms, and Optical are thoroughly cleaned in between patients, including high-traffic surfaces such as doorknobs, seat cushions, arm rests, and faucets.

Medical Center Eye Clinic is doing everything we can to keep us all safe. We look forward to taking care of you.
